Homeboys!.. I miss you all. Especially the Homiest of them all.. the one and only Samurai himself. Thanks, Nels for posting this. I think it sounds pretty good. Ric you’re too hard on yourself. Everyone sounds great.. of course that tune got better after a few gigs but.. what the hell. wow .. a year passes. who blinked.

Good heavens!the vocal is awful!i must’ve left my voice in my other suit.i seem to remember doing better than that on other occasions.

Wow, I miss that guy! Hard to believe he’s been gone for a whole year.Thanks for posting that. I don’t see why that video would’ve been a problem. I think it’s a raw yet rockin’ performance! I’ll be thinking of Alan a lot this week; I’m sure I’m not alone.

I have a good story that Alan told me regarding the Samurai bass player illustration on this site. Can anyone fill in the blanks?

Back in the nineteen-seventies, Alan was performing on Saturday Night Live with _______________, and while they were doing the rehearsal, _______________ was in the audience, doing a doodle sketch of Alan with his hair up on a napkin. This later became the inspiration for John Belushi’s Samurai Delicatessen character.

I believe the image on the website is many copy generations away from the original illustration – which Alan had tucked away in a book somewhere unknown.

Hahaha. I love the way Ric drops the mic on the rhythmic vocal part that Walt was supposed to cover because Ric couldn’t wrap his brain around it. Very natural, Ric.
